Easy Diamonds Quilt Pattern | Fun & Done Quilting | 101
If you are new to Fun & Done! Quilting, Easy Diamonds is a great pattern to start with. Easy Diamonds is assembled using a quilt-as-you-go technique. The Fun & Done Quilting method allows you to complete the quilting as you assemble each block. Sew the blocks together, and you’re done! Now that’s fun !For a scrappy look you can use 2-1/2 inch strips. Use the template as directed in the pattern instructions for laying the first two strips. Add each new strip, working out from the center. Place contrasting fabrics next to each other. You can also divide the backing fabric requirements in half and select two different fabrics. Alternate these to get a checker board effect on the back of the quilt.
While it is not required, I always suggest purchasing Batting Buddy 2-Piece Template Set. It can be found in Templates. The Batting Buddy makes cutting and assembly so much easier and with great results. The frame portion is used to cut the backing fabric. The inner square portion is used to cut out the batting. Use the frame again to perfectly center the batting in the middle of the backing. I use a walking foot with a 1/4" foot for block construction and the stitch-in-the-ditch foot for sewing blocks together and for sewing down the sashing. A zipper foot works okay.
CORRECTION: On an earlier printing it has been discovered that this pattern was shrunk a bit when it was printed. This causes the template on page 4 to be too small. To remedy this all you need to do is draw a line 3/8 inch from the diagonal line to make it bigger, then extend the other lines to form the triangle. I am so sorry for this. Thankfully it is an easy fix. This applies to older patterns. To be sure yours is correct, the template should measure 7-1/8 inches x 7-1/8 inches.
